So its a keeper... for now!

Shane has decided to keep the Pnut for ever! Well, thats as long as his enthusiasm keeps up anyhow! After basking in the glow of the admiration and attention it got at Inters and also The Classics and Retro Show (CARS) at Santa Pod, I think he knows he has got a very cool car!

Plans are afoot to transform the'nut still further, although lowering any more is off the cards for the moment. The stance it has is very tough-looking and the beastie looks positively menacing in the rear view mirror I can tell you!

Some cool red band tyre flaps are planned along with some more body work and possibly a clean? Preparations to take the Pnut to Belgium for Mania are underway. Looking forward to that then are we? Ya buggers...

Well, its on the road...

Latest update on the Pnut. Shane and Co. made a sterling effort to get the Beast of Maida Vegas (TM) back on the road and up and about! The idea was to have her ready for the Restoshop-sponsored Undesirables display at GTI International, with fellow Restoshop project car GAV- The Derby. After playing around with all sorts of wheel and tyre combos (see pic below!) Shane eventually settled with the very rare bona-fide Wolfrace slot mags. Its all part of the Muscle Car theme which he is going for at the mo!

The Passat was also lowered by using spring clamps. This is a temporary measure until a suitable lowering kit (or similar!) can be found.

It got shed loads of attention at Inters (as you would expect) and was only out-done by another rare beasty, a Passat LS, belonging to fellow Passat-nut, Brad. It was all done up and looked the business and we shall hopefully have a few piccies to put up soon... check the main blog for those...

The Audi steering wheel has been installed too and looks right at home. Shane wants a non-Audi centre cap so something suitable is being sought as I type! Thats it really. Check out the piccies and leave coments if you want. All there is to say for now!

3 different wheels on the go...

El P-nut lives!

Thanks to the talents of Will 'of the 'Boro', the P-nut now has an MoT! Some welding and fabricating was performed to the rear and alle ist gut! Just needs the dreaded tax and some 'insewerants'.

We hope to have some pics of the work up soon. In the meantime, someone keep reminding me to give Shane his steering wheel...

Restoshop project ride: 1974 Passat

We collected Shane’s 1974 Mk 1 Passat from Newcastle one weekend in September 2005. It is currently being prepared and made ready for the 2006 show season. Complete with its 'Geordie Buggaz' rear window sticker, the old beast still has its original Marino Yellow paintwork and a funk-soul Green dogtooth interior.

Any Mk 1 Passat is a rare sight on the roads today, but the 'P-Nut' will be a bit different, with a choice set of rims and a selection of interior accessories from Restoshop. Shane has chosen some funky-ayaz PSL Hockenheim splits to give the 'Nut a Euro look. These are special-order rims will make the Passat look very, very cool. Naturally, a ground-scraping ride is also on the cards.

Having escaped the Scrapyard once already, this base model is almost ready to hit the road and is one to watch out for.

(Artist's impression – imagine this with 2-doors and round headlamps!)
